Lamahatta is a new and offbeat tourists destination near Darjeeling of West Bengal. Surrounded by greenery and rivers amidst picturesque terraced farmland, this is a small roadside mountain village that now boasts of an upcoming eco tourism destination. Tourism Department of West Bengal promoting eco-tourism here. Among the natural beauty around a man made garden has also been created along slope of hill. Lamahatta is nicely surrounded by forest of Pine and Dhupi trees along with the mountains these magnifies the beauty of the place.
How to reach:
Lamahatta is very well connected to Darjeeling, Kamlimpong state highway. From Siliguri the road distance to Lamahatta is about 72kms and will take about 3.5 hours. Easiest is to take a taxi from NJP Station or Bagdogra Airport. From Darjeeling the distance to Lamahatta is 23kms. Best is to take a taxi which will take little over an hour to reach. If you are coming from Kalimpong, the distance is 41kms (about 2 hrs). You will need to come to Jorebungalow near Ghoom and then take the road for Lamahatta. Otherwise take a shared jeep up to Jorebungalow and then another one from there up to Lamahatta.
