Thangu a small Valley situated beyond Lachen and on the way to Gurudongmar Lake in north Sikkim. Thangu Valley remains covered with snow most of the time in year. The place has magnificent appearance in April, May when the valley is flower carpeted. The valley is a halt for tourists to get acclimatized with the weather before proceeding to high altitude Gurudongmar Lake. Combination of calm Teesta river, wooden house, alpine vegetation, snow cladded village surrounded by mountains making the high altitude valley just awesome.
How to reach:
Siliguri or Bagdogra to Gangtok; Gangtok to Lachen it takes around 7 hrs via Mangan and Chungthang, approx 108 Km. Lachen to Thangu takes 1.45 hrs to cover 35km.
