Yuksam / Yuksom is a hilly town located in West Sikkim(we could say West-North Sikkim). Yuksam is surrounded by high altitude Himalaya hills. Although Kanchanjangha range view is not available here like Pelling but the village town has its own beauty. Dense green, calm mountain town is the home of plenty of Birds and Butterflies. Though Yuksam had been Capital of Sikkim in past but the place has very less population. Regular tourists rarely stay here; only trekkers and foreign tourists enjoy staying. Yuksam has been a trekker’s paradise; this is base for Dzongri and Goecha La trek. Dense green forest around, diversified beauty of untouched nature, and simplicity of people – are outmost experience for nature & mountain lovers.
How to reach:
Siliguri to Jorthang it takes around 4 hrs, approx 85Km. Jorthang to Yuksam is around 61Km, takes around 3 hrs. Yuksam is nearly 40kms beyond Pelling.
