Yumthang, also popularly known as ‘Valley of Flowers’ in Sikkim. The place is located nearly 60 Km beyond Lachung of north Sikkim. Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary is located at Yumthang, this sanctuary is home of more than 20 species of Rhododendron along some species of birds. In April the wide stretched valley remains flower carpeted. The valley is surrounded by snow cladded different Himalayan mountain peaks. Combination of flower carpeted valley, Teesta River, snow cladded peaks of this Himalayan valley have been attracting tourists for some magnificent views.
How to reach:
Siliguri to Gangtok it takes around 4 hrs, approx 114 Km. Gangtok to Lachung is around 103Km, takes around 6 hrs as road condition remains not good. Lachung to Yumthang distance is 25 Km takes around 1.5 hrs.
